Owners, Tom and Anita Denboske, started Active Communications in 1996 as a home-based business. Without a retail store yet, Anita would activate and deliver the cell phones directly to her customers, earning her the nickname of the “cell phone lady”.

In 1998, Active opened their first retail store location in Gypsum, CO and the business flourished. Working with AT&T Wireless, Tom and Anita acheived the “entrepreneurial trifecta” with the right product, in the right place, at the right time.
